What's included

Bookkeeping support, shaped around your business

Your monthly bookkeeping can cover any of the areas below. Exactly what's included depends on your package and the volume of work, and it's all confirmed in your quote.

Income and expenses

Sales and business costs recorded accurately and categorised consistently.

Sales and purchase records

Invoices and bills kept organised, so you can see who owes you and what you owe.

Bank reconciliation

Your records checked against your bank statements, so nothing is missed or recorded twice.

Receipts and documents

Paperwork organised and easy to find, including digital capture with Dext where it's part of your agreed set-up.

Routine accuracy checks

Entries checked as they're recorded, with anything unclear raised with you early rather than left until year end.

Ready for your accountant

Organised, reconciled records your accountant or tax adviser can work from.

Software

Working with the tools that suit your business

Sage

Day-to-day bookkeeping in Sage, from recording transactions to bank reconciliation, with a Sage-certified bookkeeper.

Dext

Receipts and invoices captured digitally instead of piling up. Margarita is a Dext Certified Expert and can run Dext as part of your bookkeeping where it's included in your agreed package.

Excel

Clear, well-structured spreadsheet bookkeeping, where that suits your business better.

Not sure which is right for you? That's part of the first conversation, and you'll get an honest recommendation. Software subscriptions are separate from bookkeeping fees and may carry their own costs.

Behind on your records?

It happens, especially in a busy first year. Catch-up bookkeeping brings your records up to date and back in order. It's quoted separately and individually, based on how much work is involved, and you'll know the price before anything starts.

What counts as a transaction?

Generally, each payment into or out of your business bank account. A matching invoice or receipt isn't counted again, so you're not charged twice for the same sale or expense. Where you take payments through platforms such as SumUp, Stripe or PayPal, the volume of sales and fees behind each payout is taken into account in your quote.

Making Tax Digital

From April 2026, sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000 must keep digital records and send quarterly updates to HMRC. The threshold falls to £30,000 from April 2027 and £20,000 from April 2028. Whether it applies to you depends on the qualifying income on your earlier Self Assessment tax returns.

Monthly bookkeeping keeps your records digital, organised and up to date throughout the year, giving you, your accountant or your tax adviser a solid base to work from.

Where the line sits: This is a bookkeeping and digital record-keeping service. It doesn't include sending updates or returns to HMRC, filing tax returns, submitting VAT returns or preparing annual accounts.
